A Kenyan advocate who is said to have used tricks to obtain Sh4million has been charged in Court.

Malinzi Lucey Kwesiga was charged at the Milimani Law Courts, where she denied the charges.

The court papers the accused person, Mrs. Malinzi Lucey Kwesiga, allegedly obtained 19,000 euros and USD 20,000, which the prosecution approximates to equivalent to Sh4 million.

The court heard that the accused person, Patrick Guy, who is the complainant by falsely pretended that he would sell him pure gold.

The court heard that the accused person committed the offence on diverse dates between March 8 and 26.

Before she took a plea, the accused person, through his defense, told the court to defer the plea on the ground that the chargesheet was defective.

The lawyers argued that the matter should be before the advocates’ disciplinary committee and not the court. He pleaded not guilty before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and was released on a cash bail of Sh 500,000.

Cases of gold fraud among advocates have been on the rise in risen days. Most advocate have been using their law skills to perpetrate gold-related fraud.

The case will be mentioned on April 15, and the criminal case will be heard on April 14.
