Controversial businessman cum Fraudster Peter Wanjema Mwangi has been charged with Sh1.3m in land fraud.
Mwangi was charged with conspiracy to defraud 1.3 ha of land worth millions, contrary to the law.
The accused person was charged before Milimani Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe, where he denied the charges and pleaded for a lenient bond term.
According to the court papers, the accused person conspired to defraud a parcel of land and forged letters of allotments of the said piece of land contrary to the law.
The charge sheet read in court says that Wanjema committed the offense on diverse dates between June 16, 2010, jointly with others who have already been arraigned and charged before the court.
They jointly alledgly conspired with intent to defraud John Irungu Huma of a parcel of land measuring 1.300 ha, contrary to the law.
He was charged with another count of forging a letter of allotment for the land reference number 209/1 1391, valued at approximately Sh 230 Million, purporting it to be a genuine and valid letter of allotment issued by Nairobi City County to the Bahati Development Welfare Association.
The Milimani-based magistrate released him on a bond of Sh 1,000,000 with an alternative cash bail of Sh 600,000.
The court directed that the case proceed on February 6 for further directions.
