The week that was witnessed some high political temperatures during a funeral service in the south Kabras ward. As Hon. Tali’s former area MCA was being laid to rest, politicians decided to test their strength by kicking dust and leaving behind a big trail of storms. At the center of all this was Governor Barasa, the “Italanyi.”.
Although many observers and political pundits have criticized and bashed words from Hon. Savula, I think the tide was too high for him to defend his boss. My recollection of the Barasa/Savula ticket also gives me another insight; this was a marriage of convenience. Savula is acting out of stress.
This can be self-destruction or cannibalism from within. As gears change to the homestead, expect more of these. Many politicians in their quest for relevance and alignment will find it hard to cope. Some will opt to be tails, Yaani just following their masters.
Others will solidly stand their ground. People may say Hon. Savula was high on something. Maybe yes! But that’s how he has always played his politics since I knew him.
The panic in this camp may likely cause a stir. However, the biggest downfall for Governor Barasa would be to do away with his deputy. This guy knows how to float in mud. Governor Barasa will have to keep this marriage for the remaining period.
Meanwhile, the battalion of Hon Khalwale, Mama Elsie, and Malala, though focused on wrestling the seat from Barasa, still looks confused and undecided. Here the stake on cards is high but with casualties. Another political dry spell is looming for any of them who will slip first. On who will tie the bell around the cat’s neck, the coming few months will tell.
