Speaking on the day his former boss marked three years in office, Gachagua accused President Ruto of using State House delegation meetings to breed corruption, saying his presidency will end corruption should he be elected into office.

The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) boss spoke as he led his party officials and leaders on a tour of the Mt Kenya region, where he used roadside stops to announce that he will be vying for the presidency.

Gachagua and his allies told Mt Kenya residents that he is the best-suited within the opposition outfit to fly the presidential flag.

“Sisi tumeamua kuwa kwa opposition; yule anaweza kutoa Ruto ni Gachagua pekee yake,” DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala said.

Gachagua took issue with delegations hosted in the State House, saying it amounted to breeding corruption.

“Jana aliita watu wa Murang’a akawahonga Ksh.5000 ati ndiyo wampigie Kasongo kura… inawezekana kweli?” Gachagua posed.

“Hata hapa Murang’a amewaambia vijana wengine watengeneze chama ati ndiyo watumike…tumejua hiyo…eti ndio waseme hawataki Kasongo kumbe ni wheelbarrow ya Kasongo,” noted Gachagua.

In Kirinyaga, Senator Kamau Murango criticised the hosting of delegations at State House, terming the meetings a cash cow to fleece taxpayers’ money.

“Kuna mkahawa mpya siku hizi inaitwa State House, watu wanaenda halafu wanapewa pesa nyingi… hiyo pesa inatoka wapi?” Murango posed.
