Mediheal Hospital Broker behind Eldoret Kidney Saga on the run

A miserable man is now linked to Mediheal Hospital and illegal kidney businesses in Eldoret town, where he has acted as a middleman between the donors and the recipients for several months now.

According to our reliable sources, the man does his deals in certain offices within Eldoret, Nakuru, and some areas within Uasigishu, and he is well known among the villagers.

“He has been urging us to sell our kidneys in exchange for good money. We only know him as ‘Mr.Yusuf.’ Normally, he strikes an agreement between the parties involved, and some payments are usually made,” said Abel Kiprop, a resident of Eldoret.

Kiprop said that those kidneys are usually sold to patients who get attended to not only at Mediheal Hospital but also across various hospitals across the country.

Kiprop, an Eldoret-based businessman, said that Mediheal Hospital has been wrongly linked to the illegal business, urging the government to intervene for the man to be arrested.

“We want the government and our politicians to stop playing games and make this man a convict. I know three of my friends who gave their kidneys, and the man refused to clear their debt despite receiving payments from the patient. This deal has never been done at Mediheal, and Mr.Yussuf is completely on his own business,” he added.

So far the police have launched investigations into the matter to identify the man for his possible arrest and arraignment.

“Yes, we have received multiple reports from residents concerning a man called Yussuff who has conned people out of millions of shillings in kidney businesses. We are aware of the matter, and the investigations are ongoing,” said a detective aware of the matter.

Mediheal only receives patients, both the donor and the recipient, but has never known where they knew each other from. This is the same with other hospitals that conduct these special operations.

The reports of Yusuf have emerged months after reports linked Mediheal Hospital to illegal kidney scandals, which the hospital denied.

According to Dr. Srinivas Murthy and Mediheal Hospital Vice President Maryline Lim, the hospital has never been at the centre of illegal kidney business.

They also said that the whole problem has arisen from brokers who defraud innocent Kenyans for their selfish gains.

Concerning the broker at the centre of the whole issue, the broker said that the hospital has never come across ‘Mr. Yussuf,’ who is now on the police radar.

Another senior source at the hospital reveals that the hospital was shocked after its name was drawn at the centre of the scam.

It added that kidney transplants, just like other special treatments, have been going on at the facility for years and all the operations have always turned out successfully.

“The hospital has qualified medics who take their role seriously. The issue of illegal business is not true because we only receive a donor and a recipient who, after following all the due process, are both exposed to medical procedures. The hospital has never had a case of backfired operations or procedures,” said an insider.

Some victims now want the police to arrest the said Yussuf and bring him to justice.
